The game that made me start playing visual novels! It have some
puzzles sprinkled in the gameplay but 80% of the game is
storytelling and character interaction. If you don't like puzzle
games but enjoy a good
you can either play the IOS version of the game that had
all puzzles removed (I don't recommend this option, as
there's a lot of dialog and character interaction removed),
or
you can click

The story is a little confusing at first, but as you start to
I recommend playing the PC version, simply because it's more accessible, and most of the time cheaper, than the other ones. If you prefer a more portable option I recomend the PS Vita over the DS version, as it have HD graphics and music, flowchart, full voice acting, and it's bundled with the game's sequel "Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward" witch I also highly recommend playing.
The game is available for
PC on Steam,
Nintendo DS
(slightly different puzzles from other versions,
no flowchart, pixelated graphics, no voice
acting) ,
IOS
(No puzzles, no character animations), PS4, PS Vita,
Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
The second game of the zero escape trilogy. You don't necessarily need to play the first game to understand it, but you'll be spoiled to a lot of important events in 999 if you do.
This is the best game of the trilogy in my opinion.
The 3DS version of this game have a glitch where saving the game while in a scape room sequence or after too many hours of gameplay has a high chance of getting a corrupted save file and having to start the game from the very beginning.
To reduce the chances of getting a corrupted game make sure to:
Because of the corruption issue with the 3DS version of the game if you want to play it on the go try getting the PS Vita version if you can! But if you prefer playing it at home the Steam version is the best pick for the same reasons stated for the first game. It's more accessible, cheaper, easier to stream the game if you are playing with a friend over discord, and steam even have a bundle with all 3 games of the series. But if you don't have a PC but have a PS4 or a Xbox pick the version for the console that you already have, they are the exact same ones as the PC version.
If you ever get stuck, or don't know what to do next, here is a guide to help you out if you need!
The game is available for PC on Steam, Nintendo 3DS (Corrupt save glitch), PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
The weakest game of the series by far. I don't even recommend this game unless you really liked the other two and is really invested in the knowing the rest of the story. Also, it's impossible to understand anything that happens in this game if you haven't played at least the second game "Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward" .
This game attempts to make the dialog more cinematic, but it
doesn't work very well... It ended up making the game feel less
like a visual novel and more like a very odd pacing and long
cutscene, witch makes playing the game and following the story
very tiring. The 3D models and the animation aren't very good
either
Despite all the cons, this game have some interesting twists and
As for plataform differences the only noticeable changes are the graphical ones. The PS4 have the best graphics, since this version was released 1 year after the others, they had time to make some upgrades to the lighting and shading of the characters. You can see the graphical comparison in the video below:
On the other hand, the 3DS version has the worst graphics by far. This usually isn't a issue at all, for me at least, but in this case the poor graphics is detrimental to the game, especially in the scape room sequences. If you need to find a small object or read a tip hidden somewhere in the room to progress in the game, you will probably need to use a guide to help you out, since they are very hard to find/read if you need to.
The game is available for PC on Steam, Nintendo 3DS (Poor graphics), PS4 (Upgraded graphics), PS Vita, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Sadly, the story doesn't even
